You can determine the quality of your thread by gently stress-testing each spool by hand. If your line breaks with a gentle tug, it’s time to replace it. High-quality polyester thread is ideal for most embroidery work, but if you’re still running into thread breaks after swapping to a fresh spool, you may need to switch to Rayon.
There are a few factors that can reduce the quality of your yarn, including:

Airflow
Sun exposure
While these variables can affect all sizes of thread spools, large spools are much more insulated from outside conditions than small spools, so don’t be limited by size!
If you do notice an increase in threadbreaks, your thread may be bad. If so, it’s probably best to dispose of your bad spools to prevent poor stitch quality and increased production times.
